How to add a new service type. Step 3: Fee settings

Last Update 2 bulan yang lalu
The third step of a service configuration is a set-up of fee settings.
The “Fee settings” section includes:
1. Meter modes
2. Cancellation by customers
3. Cancellation by driver
4. Free cancellation (customer & driver)
Let’s go over the “Regular rate” parameters.

1. There are 2 types of Meter modes available:
- Time + mileage
- Time or mileage
“Time + mileage” meter calculates the trip cost as a total of trip distance multiplied by per km/mi value and trip time multiplied by per minute value.
In “Time or mileage” mode, the calculation switches between price per minute and price per km depending on the speed of the vehicle.
The turning point is set in the “Speed threshold” field. If the speed on the trip is lower than this threshold, the order cost is calculated based on the price per minute value. If higher than the speed threshold, the calculation is done on price per km. At the end of the trip the 2 values are summed up.
The minimum speed threshold allowed in our system is 2 km/h (1.24 mi/h).
2. “Per minute” is the cost set for a minute of an order.
3. “Per kilometer” is the cost set for a kilometer of an order.
4. “Flag down fee” can also be called a “seat price”. Basically, it is a set value for the provision of the cab/service.
5. "Minimum cost - is the minimal cost of the ride, which any customer will be charged for regardless of the trip duration or mileage.
6. Maximum cost - is an optional setting, activated in case there are any regulations in the area for a trip maximum.
7. “Additional fee” is the fee charged on the customer and aimed at covering any additional charges associated with local policies, regulations such as VAT, tax etc. The fee type may None / be Including / On top.
- Fee calculation type - can be set as dynamic (any value in percent within 0 - 100% range) or fixed (any flat value from 0.1 to 999,999,999,999,999).
- Fee amount - any value in accordance with the fee type. More details are shared in Customer additional fee post.
- Additional fee name - the custom name of the fee.

Let's look at examples with different settings Meter mode function🤓

From the above setting you can see that the immediate Minimum cost of the trip on this regular rate is 3$. The Flag down fee of 3$ is included into the minimum value. Let's say your ride has started and you've been on it for 2 kilometers and 2,5 minutes. The cost of this ride will be:
2km x 0.5$+2.5min x 0.4$+3$=5$ (3$ for the Flag down fee).
So, this is the point of the ride at which your Minimum is spent and the system will proceed calculating the cost as per the above fees of 0.5$ per kilometer and 0.4$ per minute. The system will calculate Flag down fee as 0 value in case it's higher than the Minimum cost. At the end of the trip an additional fee of 10% from the trip cost will be added to the trip total.

Let’s assume that a trip on “time or mileage” mode with a speed threshold of 20km/h is 2.5 minutes and 2 km. The driver stopped at the traffic light for 30 seconds. At that time the vehicle’s speed was 0 km/h, so the calculation is based on the price per minute. For the rest of the trip, the driver held a steady speed of 30 km/h. As this is above the speed threshold of 20 km/h, the cost is calculated based on the price per km.
The trip total for the above scenario should be calculated as follows:
0,5 min x 0.4$ + 2km x 0.5$ + 3$ = 4.2$ (3$ for the flag down fee)
At the end of the trip an additional fee of 10% from the trip cost will be added to the trip total.
🤓Tips: “Time or mileage” taximeter mode is useful for areas with heavy traffic situations and multiple regulated crossroads. Keep this in mind when choosing a meter mode.
☝️Notes. Customer cancellation for customers is not available because there is no customer app in Onde.Light solution. It's only available for our paid Onde solution.
